My Project
Sitting around a campfire singing songs, telling stories and connecting with others is an experience we can all appreciate. The laughter at funny songs, learning about each other through deeper conversations, and listening to stories while snuggled up by a fire brings out the warmth in people.
This project would fund the supplies to turn my classroom into an indoor campfire experience!
The supplies I would like to purchase are an LED campfire, cushions for students to sit on the floor, a campfire story book, a campfire call and response songbook, a questions game for heartfelt discussions, and a silly camping themed "Would you rather?" question book. These supplies will help me recreate a campfire feel and get students engaged in doing something different! The campfire vibes will help students relax and feel connected. Students who feel connection with their peers and teachers are happier, more motivated and better learners.
I teach a social emotional learning class each day for 30 minutes called Advocacy. This class provides a time to connect with a smaller group of students and really get to know them. A campfire day once a month would be a great way to break up the monotony of a regular classroom day and spark some excitement for a new way to connect!
