Camp Read-A-Lot! Ready for S'More Learning!

Help me give my students sets of literature to the year with a camping theme that will allow us to study the environment, geography, historical sites, STEAM lessons, mapping, and more. An exciting way to combine all lessons.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Walker's classroom raised $493

My Students

Our school is a Title I Assist school and I am fortunate to teach students that are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges which allow them to be creative and think outside of the box.

They come to school each day energetic and ready to learn new things.

From the time they enter the door they have a great attitude and we are busy all day from beginning to end. The amount of learning they accomplish in one year is no easy feat! But with team work and lots of fun projects we get the job done.

My Project

Second grade students will be coming to us in the fall after leaving their old school in March. They will be entering a brand new school for third grade after being out of school for 4 months.

I want to WOW my students back to school with Camp Read-A-Lot.

They will enter a room that is filled with camping decor but is really designed to get them on board to READ. Each book selected will be used to also help with a lesson in geography, social studies (historical sites, mapping), math (word problems about items needed for trips), and writing (literal/nonliteral). I have also incorporated STEAM projects on building tents, making a boat float, Glow in the Dark Firefly jars and simple machines with Mr. Magee.

The key to educational success is READING. I want my students to see and feel how much I love reading. Hopefully, they will grow to love it just as much as me. We will start the year off on the right path headed towards Camp Read-A-Lot. We will be READY for S'MORE LEARNING!
