My Project

I am asking you to fund a few Kodak Pixpro digital cameras. These digital cameras will allow my students an introduction to the art of photography. Putting digital cameras in the hands of students will allow them to focus on the fundamentals of photography.

Each artist has a medium that they connect with and when other mediums will not allow them to fulfill their vision photography can. Photography is a lifelong skill. My goal as a K-8 art teacher is to not only introduce my students to skills they will use as teens and adults but give them enough practice to feel confident in those skills. Children often find their passions at this stage of their lives. Having the right equipment will allow them to explore, engage, and expand their knowledge.

The main use of these cameras will happen in the art studio for creative projects. The secondary use will be for classroom projects. As Montessori students, my artists art encouraged to use mediums and media of their choice to create and present projects in their classroom. Many come to me, as the art teacher, to use my personal camera for those projects. I am also the yearbook editor. I would love to put the power of yearbook photos in the hands of my students.
