Cameras for Aspiring Journalists

My students need two digital cameras.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Larkin's classroom raised $350

This project is fully funded

When I write newspaper articles, I feel like I'm writing for all the other students in the school," says Tony*, an 11th grade journalism student in my class. I teach Journalism to 18, 9th-12th grade students at a public charter school organized around the arts in an urban area in California. My students produce a monthly student-run newspaper. *name has been changed

My students are working hard to make our newspaper look professional to compete with other high school newspapers in the area. We have very little resources or funding from the school and support the paper through selling ads. This just gives us enough money to print each month, without any extra for supplies.

Last year, our school was in a temporary campus and we had a break in to my classroom and a few others. The cameras our students used for paper were stolen and the school has not been able to find the funds to replace them. We are looking for two high quality digital cameras that students can use to take pictures and learn photojournalism skills for our paper.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have the technology they need to make an incredible paper.
