Although we start approximating values for sine, cosine, and tangent using tables and formulas, we establish a deeper grounded foundation by using these degree and radian calculations. It also helps us better understand the building blocks of what it truly means to be a rational versus irrational number. \r\n\r\nAt a basic level, any number can be expressed as a fraction, decimal, or percentage. These calculators help us see these connections. Having a consistent class set of graphing calculators is so important! Not only does it encourage students to check their answers for mastery, they also practice using technologies that will equip them with core knowledge and prepare them for standardized tests.\r\n\r\nStudents appreciate the ease of the solar power, no battery fuss, charged calculators. They also find the convenience of not relying on trigonometric tables handy. This helps them better visualize the connections between the unit circle and their graphs. As artists, my students like to be hands on with the content. It excites them to have a tool that they can view as a game. We definitely draw connections between cellphones and scientific calculators.\r\n\r\nAs I've taught at many public schools in the past, one of the main differences that I've seen regarding art students is their willingness to jump right into the material. I appreciate their openness to making mistakes and finding their own voice. This often shows up with calculators as well. Whether as a fidget toy or a tactile aid artists have something to hold onto which gives direct immediate feedback. It's also a great way to get learning groups to collaborate with each other. Shy/introverted students can be the presenter or teacher for their group. These calculators will help us form stronger bonds\r\n\r\nThank you so much for making an impact at our school!","fullyFundedDate":1750451495509,"projectUrl":"project/no-phone-zone/9386315/","projectTitle":"No Phone Zone","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Imm","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8896919_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729104979914","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8896919"},{"teacherId":9848975,"projectId":8971478,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping inspire my math students with the Fox Shop.
