This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"A picture is worth a thousand words!" Imagine how many words video is worth? I would like to give my students the opportunity to express millions of words with video and photos and share through Skype.

Our school consists of lower socioeconomic students from a variety of cultures.

Many of our students are learning English as a second language, but don't have the necessary resources to help them close the achievement gap. They are eager to learn. All they need is some resources to help.

My Project

Being able to capture the world around you is magical. My students are currently learning grammar and basic writing skills. I would like to encourage and inspire my students to write more and love what they can publish. By acquiring a digital cameras with video capability, my students can take turns taking the cameras home to document important events in their lives such as personal experiences. They can also capture events in their neighborhoods that shape them into who they are. I want my students to learn that their community offers many enrichment activities. Eventually, my students will publish a newsletter with video about their lives in the community and be able to share it via Skype with other classrooms around the country and world.

By supporting this project, you will be able to make an impact that goes beyond their current classroom.

This donation of a digital camera and memory card will encourage my students to venture out into their neighborhoods to learn more about their community and use their writing skills to inform others about what they have learned about the community. It will also allow millions of others to view it via Skype.
