Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

4 students run our school website, and are the only students to do so in our district. Despite old equipment they have made great strides in mending a school culture rent asunder when our high school was split in half into two buildings. We aim to use this camera to enrich the community further by taking high quality photos of our sports teams in action, which we were previously unable to do. We also hope to hold our first picture day in 6 years! We haven’t been able to because of the school’s budget, but this would help us do it ourselves. The students have been recognized by the district for their efforts to make our two schools feel like one community again, and this would help us let our students see themselves clearly as part of it. They’ve learned much about journalism, recently being invited to cover the ribbon cutting of a new library, and with this we can do even more.
