Camera for Intermediate-Level Visual Arts Students

My Students

Our school is located in North Miami, a vibrant city with lots of culture and a population of humble people of diverse backgrounds. The community’s per capita income is approximately $20,000 and only 19% of the community has a bachelor’s degree or higher. Most of our students will be first-generation high school graduates and first-generation college students within their families.

Our students need more exposure to sports, cheerleading, dance, performing, and visual arts, and they could benefit from learning the basics and proper techniques.

My Project

With this camera, my students will be challenged to use various filming techniques to record highlights around the school. Furthermore, the visual arts students plan to collaborate with other departments around the school to create course content review videos to help students study for end-of-course exams.

With a professional camera, my visual arts students can learn more advanced photography and videography techniques as well as TV production.

This camera will allow me to demonstrate through interactive, hands-on learning how video footage can be recorded on camera, transferred to a computer, and then edited using computer applications. Students will enhance video by adding music, sound effects, titles, and lower thirds graphics to their video projects.

My students can certainly benefit from using newer technology. This camera would be of great use as we are currently using limited technology and cameras over a decade old. Let's help these intermediate-level students learn more techniques with the use of better equipment and technology.
