Have you ever seen a chaotic classroom? Over the years I have taught a few things make it a calmer place. Adequate supplies make a huge difference. I have requested several items I think will make my classroom run smoother, including enough crayons that each child will have plenty throughout the year, and enough dry erase markers to ensure each child has their own.
One of the most important aspects of a calm classroom is ensuring the noise level is not too high to cause anxiety.
Thus I have asked for some replacement headphones so all the children can have a working set.
I am also asking for fidget toys that I can use to create calm down kits. These will be used when a child need to take a break from the classroom for a few minutes.
