My preschool special education class provides early intervention services to qualifying special needs children with a range of disabling conditions including autism and hyperactivity, ages 3 to 5 years. Swinging is calming and can provide a sensory release to these children.
However, because our school doesn't have swings, ever since I started here fifteen years ago, I have wanted to figure out how to hang a swing from the beautiful monkeypod tree outside our back door.
Finally I got one in a recently funded project this Fall, and the kids love it! but it's hard to wait a long time for a turn. So I would like to set up three more swings to cut down on the wait times and increase the swing times. The additional webbing and buckles are to extend the reach of the strap that comes with the swing.
