My Project

Every school year, students arrive needing more than just a classroom to learn in. In the past that has included food and clothes. More often this has come to mean not only their basic needs, but emotional support and a sense of well being.

More and more students need school to be their safe space.

I want to create a classroom environment that is inviting, calming, and restful for all students. I want my students to want to come to school, and know that they will be respected and appreciated when they walk through the door. By having calming colors, fidgets, sensory options, and the materials needed to be successful throughout the day, like pencils and earbuds, my students will be able to face their challenges head on and feel prepared.
