it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom is filled with curious, kind, and energetic students who are learning not only math and reading-but also how to understand and manage their emotions. As we grow academically, it’s equally important to grow socially and emotionally. That’s why I’m creating a calming corner-a dedicated space for reflection, regulation, and resilience.
The calming corner will be a safe, quiet space in our classroom designed to support students who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or simply need a moment to reset.
This space will serve as a supportive environment where students can practice emotional regulation and regain focus so they can return to learning with a clear mind.
To bring this vision to life, I am requesting a variety of fidget tools, including stress balls, stretchy bands, and tactile toys. These items will help students manage their emotions and maintain concentration during learning. In addition, a selection of social-emotional learning books will be included in the space, offering students engaging stories and lessons on self-awareness, empathy, mindfulness, and conflict resolution.
These resources will empower students to build healthy coping strategies. When used intentionally, these tools promote an inclusive environment that meets a variety of learning styles and emotional needs, helping every child feel seen, supported, and ready to succeed.
