Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

For 2 years I have had huge success in having a calming area in my fifth-grade classroom. My students know that this area is for them to regulate their emotions, thoughts, or behaviors; so they can leave the area focused and ready to learn. The students use the area so often that the current chair I have is falling apart and is being held together by a few threads.

I am asking for help to replace our current chair with a more sturdy, comfortable chair for my students to use when they need to manage their emotions.

When they go to the calming area, the new chair will allow them to have a safe, comfortable space to read a book to help them regulate their emotions, use calming fidgets, or cuddle one of the many cuddle buddies available for them to use.
