My Project
Children with Autism often have a difficult time regulating their emotions. I want to enhance our calming corner by adding a color changing light table. The light table will be a calming and soothing tool to allow them to readjust positively when they have a sensory overload.
I am excited about the possibility of a color changing light Table and what it represents to my students.
In a world where my students struggle to communicate, a light table without rules would give them the freedom to do whatever they want as it helps them balance their moods and minds.
This light table will promote sensory exploration, tactile awareness and visual perception. The bright calming lights will help them engage in activities that will inspire their creativity and critical thinking skills. My students will use the light table to explore and develop skills in the areas of literacy, art, mathematics, science, engineering and so many other areas.
