This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are such a unique group of tiny people! Most are excited to learn, some are apprehensive, their skills vary greatly, as do the things they love about school. However they all walk in with a smile on their face and I want to do all I can to help them love being at school!

I work at a Title I school in Arizona where our whole school population receives free breakfast and lunch.

Despite that many of our students experience all sorts of hardships at home, it is wonderful to see that many of them also enjoy being at school.

As a kindergarten teacher it is especially wonderful to see the amount of growth our students make! They come in with base level knowledge, and just flourish throughout the year. My hope is to give them all they can to continue on and become successful adults.

My Project

These magnetic light covers will provide an easy way to calm our classroom and create a mellow work environment. My hope is that the mixture of blue and white will create lighting that both mellows the classroom but also keeps it functional.

The harsh fluorescent lighting provided in classrooms can become very overwhelming and hard to work in, similar to an office setting.

My classroom often works with the lights off now, using the remaining safety lights and a small window as our light source. While we have made due with that method these light covers would really help to provide the same calming environment while still producing enough light to work by.

I know my kiddos would be so excited to come in and see "new" lights in our room, and I'm hopeful we can get this project funded!
