it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of all students, and we are excited to introduce our new Calming Room, a safe and nurturing space where students can take a break, de-stress, and recharge during difficult times. The calming room is designed with soft lighting, comfortable seating, sensory tools that help students regulate their emotions and feel at eased. It offers a peaceful environment where they can engage in mindfulness, breathing exercises, or simply take a moment to rest in a soothing atmosphere.
In collaboration with our School Psychologist, School Psychiatric Social Worker and School Climate Advocate, we are also thrilled to launch our first ever Art Group Therapy sessions as part of the initiative.
These sessions provide students with a unique and creative way to process their emotions and experiences. Through art, students will have the opportunity to express feelings they maynot yet have the words for, while also benefiting from the therapeutic effects of creativity. Our PSW will guide students through structured activities, using art as a powerful took for self-reflection, communication and healing.
We believe in creating a school environment where mental health is a priority, and our new calming room and therapy sessions are crucial steps toward making this vision a reality. We appreciate your support in helping us provide thesed essential resources for our high school students!
