Adolescents are at a much higher risk of experiencing mental health issues and struggles during the winter months of the year when environments are generally much darker and colder than other times of the year. Energy, motivation, social skills, and commitment to excellence decrease, and the effect is magnified when students experience it as a group.
My goal for this project is to help provide students with sun therapy lamps that will help their body's production of vitamin D in order to help combat the Winter Crash my students experience.
Anyone who has spent time with students knows that sometimes the odors can be very distracting and not always pleasant. Essential oils are a great way to help balance the mood of a room and help to reduce stress and anxiety. I would like to have a few oil diffusers and some oils that help stimulate students and bring a pleasant smell to my classroom. I would like enough to last the whole year. I am looking at oils that help calm my classes, energize my sleepy classes, and help them stay focused.
The diffuser and essential oils will help to transform the rooms from a place of stress into a place of relaxation. We are also requesting plants. Plants can help improve students’ mental well-being. They can also help regulate the humidity of the environment by making the air healthier. The diffusers will be used throughout the entire school building. The plants and hydroponics system will be taken care of by the school community.
Since our school wants every student to have a Chromebook, I am hoping that the light sanitizer wand will help to keep our keyboards sanitized by cleaning them often.
