This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I plan to create a comfortable and calming space in our classroom. It is important that students have a safe place to go to when they need a break or time to collect themselves. This is why I am including the corner shaped rug and bean bag chairs. The calming corner will be available to all students throughout the day. I also included fidget items for students to use while in this space. These items can be soothing and distracting, so students are able to relax and calm down their bodies and minds.
My 3rd grade students are deserving of a safe and caring classroom.
I hope that by creating this space for them, they will recognize that they are important and cared for. I believe that is also a step towards teaching them how to self-regulate and make positive choices. Thank you for helping us to create a more welcoming classroom ecology!
