Calming Corner To Learn How To Manage Our Emotions

Help me give my students a calm and welcoming counseling space! Weighted stuffed animals, fidgets, breathing tools, cozy seating, and interactive games are essential for students who have difficulty regulating their emotions.

My Project

Students face difficult challenges each day at school. They deserve a space where they can feel calm and learn how to manage these emotions. This calming space provides students with the tools to navigate through their tough days. This will help support students who are new to the country and English language learners. Weighted stuffed animals, sensory objects, and cozy seating can help students deescalate and bring their emotions back to baseline. The counseling tools can help them outside of the counseling room, inside their classrooms and at home. The table is to hold some of these items in the calming corner right next to their seating. The laminator is to laminate posters, feelings check ins, coping skills reminders. There are several counseling games to assist in the learning of social skills, anger management, and anxiety.

I would like to provide a space for special education students, 504 students, English language learners, and general education students when they need help functioning throughout the school day or just need some additional support.

My students are amazing, hardworking, and can achieve amazing things.
