This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach preschool, and I have 20 three- and four-year-olds in my class. I have noticed that these young learners have struggled with regulating their feelings since the pandemic. They often feel upset, but they aren't able to identify their emotions. These materials will be used along with our social-emotional curriculum to teach the children how to identify their feelings and how they can use the resources to calm down when needed. These resources will be used to create a calming center in the classroom. I will use the cubbies to store materials for social-emotional learning, which will be available for students to access throughout the day. Students will learn to identify feelings using the feelings dolls and correctly match how they are feeling to the dolls.

Learning how to identify and control emotions is a big part of preschool, and the goal of this project is to provide foundational knowledge and practice in social-emotional skills and problem-solving skills.

This project will help my students focus on recognizing their emotions and learn to recognize others emotions. These items allow my students to learn coping and calming strategies that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
