My Project

My goal for this project is to create a calming corner to be an inviting and safe space for a student to enter when they feel disregulated.

I have been teaching in special education for almost a decade.

Throughout my time I have encountered many amazing children. Each of my students has taught me something in my career. I have learned mostly with students with autism, regulation of emotions can be difficult. Often, the barrier of not having a safe place to utilize to calm down is ever present in our classroom.

Creating a Calming Corner will make a great addition to our classroom.

Providing a safe designated space where children can regulate their

emotions and provide an opportunity and an outlet for the chance to

calm themselves down. By giving our students a calming corner, this will allow big emotions children experience (that may turn into a meltdown), to be quickly resolved.
