My students attend a small community school within the suburbs of a large city. They come from a variety of backgrounds. My students are in grades 1 through 2. My students have ranges of disabilities from learning disabilities to attention deficits. As a special education teacher, I work on different academic, behavior, and social/emotional skills.
It is crucial to give every student the opportunity to be successful.
My students want to be successful just like any other student. They just need some extra support to these gains in their academics, as well as, their social skills and behaviors. My students work hard and love to learn!
My Project
Now more than ever students are needing a calm and safe classroom environment! We continue to work on is self-regulation and how to work through tough situations. These items would be a great help in giving my students a safe and calm space in the school where they can feel safe!
All of the items for this project will be used to create a calm classroom setting.
We will use the light covers to reduce the bright lights. The sensory materials will be used in our calm down area. The headphones are much needed to help block out excess noise to help with concentration and focus. Many students come into our classroom feeling overwhelmed or frustrated.
