Help me give my students journals and pens for mindfulness journaling as well as air purifiers and lamps to clean the classroom air and set a calm learning enviroment.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What makes my students so special? They have a teacher that is loving and cares for them! Being an inner-city school that is striving to meet the needs of each student, there are a lot of materials that go into meeting those needs. All of our students come to us with varied abilities as well as needs.
I believe that every student is capable of learning and deserves the tools to help them be successful.
I am a 7th grade Social Studies teacher and I am looking for materials to create a safe and calming learning environment for my students.
My Project
I always want my classroom to be a calm place where students can enjoy learning in a relaxing environment. It can be difficult to do in a place where sunshine is a rarity. My students do not enjoy the fluorescent overhead lights that are a staple in every classroom. Many complain they give them headaches. Sadly, I cannot keep the lights off all day due to the lack of light from the window. Students are also always wanting to talk about the latest and new information in their lives.
Students deserve to feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment.
That is why I would like to provide my students with air purifiers, lamps, and journals with special pens. The air purifiers will allow us to have clean air circulating as the winter months set in. The lamps will allow for that calm feeling in the classroom without the fluorescent lights. Lastly, the journals and special pens will allow students to let out their feelings and general information whenever they need to.
