This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Calming classroom environments help students be able to focus and learn! My first-grade students will benefit from a reduced stimulation environment allowing them to focus on the task at hand. I have already implemented string lights throughout our room and combined with natural lighting, it helps to create a relaxing environment. The LED lamps will be used to increase the lighting in our classroom without causing overstimulation from bright lights. The headphones will reduce noise levels and allow students to complete tasks with lowered noise levels. The clipboards will allow students the option to choose a location to work within the classroom that best suits their needs. The sand timers will help reduce anxiety by allowing students to visualize how much time is going to be spent on a task.

These tools will help to lower levels of anxiety in my students allowing them to perform at a higher level.

The intent is to help my students learn that there are tools and strategies they can use to manage their emotions while learning!
