This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach high school science. My students come from a low socioeconomic background and often have troubled homes. We even have a large population of homeless children. We strive to make our classrooms a place where they can feel safe, welcomed and accepted.

My students often ask to attend the wellness center that we have on campus.

If I am able to outfit my calming center in my room, or even just have stress balls or fidget toys for the students to hold while working, they will stay in the room and not miss important instruction.
