Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a psychiatric social worker, I have seen the social, environmental, and academic stressors our scholars have experienced. Our school community has experienced various losses in the past months that have impacted our scholars. As a result, many of our scholars have been experiencing grief. A calming area will allow any of our scholars to access a calm, safe space to feel, process, and reflect on their emotions.

With this calm area, we plan to empower our scholars by teaching self-management in regulating, feeling, and processing their emotions and thoughts.

This calming space will create a peaceful area (bean bag, play-doh, sensory toys, posters, and bubbles) for scholars to process experiences or de-escalate when feeling big emotions. Please consider supporting our fantastic scholars. We appreciate your consideration in donating!
