This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students mean the world to me and they deserve the world. They show up, even when it's hard, even when they are experiencing challenges academically, socially, personally, and emotionally. They continue to show up. I've seen how anxiety and stressors affect them holistically and they are not only in need of social emotional learning, but also a safe calming area to have some space to regroup or relax, practice self-regulating, and develop the social emotional skills we teach.
This calming area, through its cozy atmosphere and creative outlets, will enhance our classroom by providing a welcoming, encouraging, and safe space where students can destress, relax, practice mindfulness, and just be themselves.
