Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After distance learning, I see that anxiety, depression, anger and low motivation is on the rise in my students. By providing a safe space in my room in which students can be comfortable, listen to soothing sounds, see calming images, and be in a different space other than their typical student desk and chair will empower students to take control of their emotions by relaxing and refocusing.

I plan on creating a "cozy corner" in my room where students who need social/emotional support will feel safe.

It will be an inviting, attractive area where students who need a change of scenery can self-soothe but still be with others to monitor them. There will be a sitting/standing desk, yoga-ball chair, mood lighting, soothing sounds and pretty decor so this will be an inviting place for students who need it.
