This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are learning self-regulation skills and a calming area will help them in their social emotional development. They are learning to recognize their feelings and how to express them. In the calming area, students will use the couch to feel a safe, comforting environment. The bins will be used to provide students with a variety of calming materials they will learn to choose from as they learn to self regulate.
Social emotional development is crucial in their academic career and in their future.
Students will use the journals to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas weekly to share with their classmates. The white board board will allow them to engage them in mindful activities like drawing and writing. Envision students exploring their feelings and learning to recognize and express them.
