This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are excited about all the great things they are learning about and all the wonderful people they interact with. There are times that new learning or some social interactions can be a bit overwhelming for some of my students. It can be rough dealing with challenging emotions and learning how to self regulate those big emotions is important.
The Calming Area would allow my students to take some time to self regulate their big emotions in a setting that is calming before rejoining the group or before re-engaging in a task.
Having the flex seating and the tools or resources to self regulate would help my students name their emotion and address that emotion leading them to regain their composure in a healthy way.
