This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since my students are only five years old, it's important for them to move locations throughout instruction so they can reach their academic potential. One way that I help keep their attention is through movement from the rug to their desks and/or groups. This year I want to incorporate community circles into their daily routine, and I would love to have them sit close together on the rug. My students use the rug for close instruction, meeting in groups, and an alternative to chair sitting. The rug is used daily, multiple times, and therefore it is necessary for it to be clean. Also, I would love to provide my kindergarteners with engaging activities in a designed area during the day. This will help build community and socialization during this important time in their learning.
