This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Being a high schooler is hard! Students these days have a lot on their plates, and they feel like they need to just power through and handle it all. Our secondary science classroom has great space for working and investigating, but we currently don't have a calming area for students.

By creating a safe, calming space for students to mindfully regulate their emotions, I am providing them the support they need to be able to productively continue on with their day.

In this calming area, students will have comfortable seating and sensory tools, and mindfulness activities to help regulate themselves.
