Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fourth grade students have been learning about emotional regulation and strategies to manage and communicate their feelings. Having a calm area will give students a space to gather themselves when they are feeling sad, angry, frustrated, or irritated. This space will help enable to students to communicate their needs to me when in times of heightened emotions. The carpet will show the designated area for students to go to, the seats will give sensory input and allow students to sit and meditate to focus on slowing their breathing. The timers help students pace their breathing while also providing calming visual stimulation.
