it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our program we use social emotional learning practices to help teach our students strategies to self regulate inside the classroom. The practice of mindfulness is strategy that can be implemented through the use of a classroom calming corner to help with our students behaviors. This area will help my students process an experience as well as de-escalate when they are having a difficult time. Many students in my classroom are facing challenges, such as adverse childhood experiences which affect their ability to self-regulate and thus learn in the classroom. Helping my students by providing them with an area in the classroom that will be calming, a safe place will be conducive to a positive learning environment. The items, such as a quiet time privacy cube and room dividers will benefit every student in my classroom by encouraging them when they feel overwhelmed, stressed, angry, or otherwise to regain their inner balance.
