Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love hands-on activities! Who doesn't? It is a great way to see abstract concepts come to life and become relatable and relevant to them. Students are applying their skills in defining problems, proposing solutions, planning and designing experiments, and collecting and analyzing data. But before they can master these skills and go through the academic learning process, they also need to be socially and emotionally prepared.
The items such as the bean bags, rugs, noise-cancelling earphones and digital drawing board will be used to create a calming area in the classroom.
This will provide a safe space for students to de-escalate, calm down, and re-center their focus when they feel things are getting too rough for them. The calming area will be a safe corner in our classroom for a student or small group of students to regain control of their emotions and mind and be more ready to learn with the rest of the class.
