A transitional kindergarten class is an exciting place to be! I believe the best learning happens through play. We are learning so many academic skills every day, and my students have already made incredible progress this school year. However, the social and emotional aspects of school are crucial at this developmental stage.
Learning social emotional skills is essential to creating a lifelong love of learning.
Our classroom has a calming area that is in some desperate need for some TLC, and this project will greatly help that and the whole classroom environment for my students!
The items in this project will help me improve social emotional learning opportunities in my classroom. My students love using puppets, and having more puppets in our classroom will help us act out social scenarios and build empathy. The dollhouse, furniture, and diverse family dolls will give students a chance to learn other perspectives and regulate their emotions through play. The sensory putty and other art supplies will be helpful additions to the calming area. These materials will allow students to practice mindfulness strategies and express themselves through art.
