Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
UTK/CC is a new program that provides children in the extended transitional kindergarten (ETK) grade level and transitional kindergarten (TK) grade level a play-based learning environment that will build the fundamental learning structure our students will carry on through their academic careers. Our class is an inclusive class that consists of children in the general education population and students with an individualized education plan (IEP).
This project will help provide our students with a safe area where they can relax, practice skills like coping with their emotions, or just take a break.
Because our class serves a small age population, social emotional development plays a vital role.
Studies show that children learn more in a play-based setting, and having a calming area will enhance this type of learning. Behaviors do play a big role in this type of program. Having an area where children can go to when they need additional support will help create a rich and high quality learning environment.
