it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are energetic and ready to learn something new every day. Part of our learning curriculum is focusing on social-emotional development. Children learn at a young age to identify feelings and emotions to better manage stress. It's important to help children to self-regulate by providing different strategies that will work best for them.
One way to help children to self-regulate is by providing a calming area with colorful visuals.
Since some of my students are nonverbal, they rely on visuals to communicate and to know what to do. They will need visuals with words that provide self-regulating actions and emotions.
In order to make different visuals, my classroom needs ink, colorful cardstock, and laminating pouches. The visuals will be displayed throughout the classroom and in a calming area. This space is designated to support children emotionally and physically while allowing them to feel safe and comfortable when they are processing different feelings.
