This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Recently we created a calming area in our classroom. We have a beanbag chair, journals, pens, art supplies and more. We'd like to add additional tools to our calming area. Wireless AirPod headphones and an Apple Pencil will allow students to listen to calming music while practicing mindful drawing. Mindfulness practices are done regularly with Mindful Monday, Grati-Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday, and Fun Friday.
These tools will continue to build our calming area and make it appealing to students.
Our students can take a break, choose one of the self-care prompts from a book, do some meditative breathing, draw or doodle. I've had such a positive response from the students. I'd like to continue to build our calming area for them.
