My Project
Help give my students an iPad to support social emotional learning in the classroom! Being in second grade, my students often have a difficult time learning how to manage their emotions. Especially given stressful situations such as hurricane Ian, when so much is unknown to wrap their young minds around.
My students would benefit greatly from having access to applications that help them self-regulate such as the Calm Meditation app.
They would also be able to use the iPad to journal using the Apple pencil, and calm coloring books to soothe them when under stress. I want them to have access to technology in a way that is positive and shows them how to use technology to self-soothe, emotionally regulate, and let out negative thoughts and feelings in a healthy way! In our classroom we have a calm down tent where the tablet can live, and students will have access to it when they need it.
