Calm Them by Meeting Sensory Needs

My Students

My students are wonderful and unique. They have amazing talents and lots of energy. We are a divers group that has individual needs to help each student succeed. My classroom would greatly benefit from some sensory items in the classroom. These items help my students focus on the lesson at hand by taking their minds off of the urge to move, touch, or fidget. I look forward to the next school year and all of the amazing things my students will accomplish!

My Project

Students with sensory needs will not be able to focus unless certain needs are met. These items which include squishies, bouncy bands, and lap blankets, will help my students to meet those sensory needs so that they can open their minds for learning. All too often, students with sensory needs are viewed as students with behavior problems. This is because they have an over whelming desire to move, touch, fidget, or chew. These items will help meet these sensory needs so that my students can focus on the lesson and constructively meet their needs without distracting the students around them or the teacher. These items would help my students in so many ways.
