This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items that I have requested will help build an environment where my students can go to calm and regulate themselves, so they are able to go into their classes ready to learn. They have so much that they are dealing with, that building a safe and calming environment is important and will help encourage them to continue to come to school and feel cared for. It is important to acknowledge that there are other needs that need to be met before a student is ready and able to sit in a class and learn. By build a space and having resources for them will help make them feel like we care about them as a person and not just a student.

My goal for this project is to help build a culture within my office but as well as the school that lets students know that they matter and are more than just grades.

I want this space to be a place where students feel like they can come and process everything that they have going on in their world, get their needs met and be successful no matter what they are facing at home. They matter and what they are going through matters and there are people that care for them and want to be successful.

My students are so strong and capable. I want them to know how strong they are and if by giving them a snack or school supplies is what they need to feel better and be successful in school then that's what they deserve. They've done the hard part and have shown up, I want them to know that everything else we can help with.
