This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’m constantly inspired by the resilience, curiosity, and compassion my students bring into our classroom. Many of them experienced kindergarten, their most formative academic and social-emotional year through a screen. They missed out on foundational instruction and the in-person interactions that help shape confidence, collaboration, and connection. Yet, every day, they show up with unique personalities, challenges, and strengths, ready to grow. Their perseverance, even when things get tough, is nothing short of remarkable. However there are times when they need a moment diffuse whether it’s in a designated space in the room or with an object (sensory boards and discs, fidgets, conversation cards, feelings chart, calm ball, stress ball) they can hold or a game they can play at their desk. This allows the student ti regulate emotions and refocus on the classroom task. They deserve a space that reflects the calm, care, and courage they show one another—a place where they can reset, refocus, and feel truly supported.
