My Students

My amazing students make up one of four 5th grade classrooms in a diverse school of about 600 students. Together, we are part of the largest elementary school in our district.

These incredible 5th graders come to school fully trusting me to provide them with opportunities to grow and succeed.

They deserve a learning environment that matches their needs, creative lessons that challenge their thinking, and continuous support to prepare them for the future. It is my goal to make sure I have all of these things in place, so they can reach their full potential.

My Project

I have started the journey of transforming my classroom, to a complete flexible classroom, a few years ago. This process has taken a lot of time and a lot of learning. I am continuously figuring out ways to help my students become the best versions of themselves that they can be.

My students need calming pillows and organization baskets to help regulate their emotions and increase their organization.

These pillows would be a great addition to our Take A Break Spot. Our Take a Break Spot is designed for my inclusion students, especially those with Autism, who are working to regulate emotions, but all students are welcome to utilize it as needed. In this spot, students will find a variety of tools to use to help them calm down enough to rejoin our class.

The organization baskets will help my students practice their organization skills, giving them a designated place to store their materials and carry with them, in our flexible classroom. Many of my inclusion students have goals of working on organization, so this will help achieve that goal, and make this step a bit less stressful for everyone involved.
