My Students
Figuring out life during the global pandemic the last 1.5 years has been exhausting for most of us. Covid has been emotionally taxing for adults and has been traumatic for kids who are still developing social skills and coping mechanisms. The students that are behind in these skills are who I work with every day. We work on strategies and skills that will equip them to not only deal with life right now, but prepare them for a future in an ever-changing world.
My Project
Life gets overwhelming and while my main focus it teaching kids the skills to deal with overwhelming situations sometimes we need a calm quiet activity before we move on for the day. Sensory items are expensive and a lot of students need a variety of items depending on the situation. My students have been doing well using social emotional games because they don't realize they are learning because it is fun. The items I have added will be used just here at school while the skills we work on will follow them all their lives.
