This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It should come as no surprise that the classroom environment is a vital component of a student’s ability to focus and learn new things.

We all know life can be a bit chaotic sometimes, so it is vital to incorporate calming and focusing elements for students in the classroom.

Endless to-do lists, walk-throughs, paperwork, student behavior, IEPs, standardized assessments (along with all the other life "stuff") can stress educators and students alike. I can help myself and my students regain some inner peace by transforming my room with a calming classroom environment that promotes comfort and focus.

We will use the string lights to create a comfortable ambiance, which will provide a calming state by softening and warming the lighting in my classroom. The peppermint plug-ins will promote focus and learning (research supported) and enhance the comfort of my classroom. This will greatly impact my students' performance and wellbeing as my room becomes conducive to focus and learning.
