Please help us replenish our "Calm Down Kits" in every classroom and office in our school! Following the Pandemic, we realized kids were struggling with big feelings and didn't really have many tools to help. With only one counselor at our school and 450 students, we needed to be creative with ways to help all students have access to something that could help them calm down from their big emotions.
Our "Calm Down Kits" are a popular go-to for our students!
They love having items readily available that help calm and refocus them, which allows them to get right back into learning! We have used them so much, in fact, that they are a bit tattered and worn. We are hoping this grant will help us replenish our supplies and even add a couple new elements too.
In addition to replacing worn and used stress balls, we would like to add some new items. These include sand timers to help students track their own time using the kit, magnetic rings and mindful mazes to add some new items and the book "A little SPOT of emotions" to help teach all students the importance of acknowledging emotions and how to use the calm down kit properly.
