Calm Down and Move Around

My students need a "calm down" spot and opportunities to "fidget" in a safe way. The bean bag chair wiggle seats, exercise ball, and "fidget toys" will help my students with calming while allowing for movement.

My Students

I work with 7th grade special education students from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. All of my students receive special education services in one or all of the following areas: reading decoding, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and writing. Many of my students have reading, writing, and vocabulary skills that are significantly below grade-level.

My students are often eager to learn new decoding and comprehension skills but need additional resources.

Many of my students have behavioral, social, and sensory needs. In order to succeed and grow academically, my students need to be in a literature-rich, comfortable environment.

My Project

The supplies that I am requesting will assist my students by providing a safe place for them to calm down when upset and to fidget when needed. The fidget toys, exercise ball, and wiggle discs will help students with sensory, emotional/behavioral, and hyperactivity disorders to move when needed in a productive way. The bean bag chair will help to build a "calm down spot" for students with emotional needs and can also serve as a reading and alternative seating location. Please consider partnering with me to provide a safe and calm learning environment for students with learning and behavior challenges.
