it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my students are that they are all unique and bring sunshine into my life every day. I work with students with special needs and multiple levels of academic and social emotional needs. A calm corner would give them a space to check in with their feelings and exercise what they need in order to feel safe and ready to learn.
A space to feel safe is essential for learning to take place.
I would like to provide an independent area for my students to manage their minds and bodies and carpet and yoga materials will be used for this purpose. I would like the area to give them the freedom to move or just relax in a sensory wonderland. I have a certificate in teaching kids yoga so I would like the materials to utilize my expertise for those who want to learn to stretch and relax their minds. I have a tent at home that I will bring in for those who just need to be alone in their own thoughts and space. I believe these items I requested would enhance our environment. The liquid floor tiles are for tactile stimulation and stress fidgets are for decompressing. A couch is for those who just need to relax. These items would enhance our environment significantly.
