it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are special because they show remarkable resilience and determination, often overcoming significant challenges in their lives. Many come from low-income families and face hardships such as food insecurity, lack of access to stable housing, or traumatic experiences. Despite these challenges, they come to school every day eager to learn and grow. The opportunity to create a safe space within the school where they feel seen, valued, and supported can have a transformative effect on their well-being and academic success. By meeting their emotional and physical needs, we can empower them to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
The goal of this project is to create a welcoming and supportive space in my office for all of my students.
Specifically, I aim to provide my students with a sense of emotional safety and stability by creating a calming environment where students can de-escalate, take breaks, and recharge. Address the issue of food insecurity by providing snacks that can help students feel cared for and supported. Offer a structured, organized space that promotes self-regulation, independence, and focus, fostering a positive and productive learning environment. Enhance emotional well-being by incorporating tools like an oil diffuser to reduce stress and anxiety, creating a holistic approach to student support.
